2021 American Masters- Competition Details

The 2021 Howard Cohen American Masters Competition will take place over 3 days- November 5th- November 7th at The Row,
IMPORTANT DATES:

- Early Registration- $100: January – April 1st
- Regular Registration – $125: April 2nd – August 30th
- Late Registration – $200: September 13th – October 5th
- Team Registration- $75
Team entry fee is $75.00. Each lifter on the team roster must submit an individual entry indicating he represents this club. Men’s teams consist of 8 athletes and 3 reserves. Women’s teams consist of 8 athletes and 3 reserves. Each team is only allowed 2 team members competing in the same age group and body weight category.
Team entries must be submitted by the same registration deadline as athlete entry. The Competition Secretary will contact the individual who purchased the team registration the week of the event to confirm the roster. Final Team Rosters are due in the hands of the Competition Secretary no later than 7:00 PM at the Technical Conference.
QUALIFYING TOTALS:
No minimum qualifying totals for the 2021 Howard Cohen American Masters!

USAW MEMBERSHIP:
USAW Membership (Master athlete) is required for all US citizens. Please make sure your membership is valid through the end of the competition (7NOV2021). Current photo ID will be required at weigh in. Non-US citizens may register without USAW membership and will be subject to all IWF competition regulations including drug testing by USADA. Photo ID required at weigh in.

COMPETITION SCHEDULE AND START LIST:
Competition will take place on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday November 5-7th. The final lifting schedule will be set after the final verification of entries, the night before the event. You do NOT need to be present at the verification meeting in order to change weight classes. You may make your weight class changes by email at any point prior to the meeting. The schedule will follow the historical organization for masters’ events: the oldest lifters will compete on the first day (Friday), and the youngest lifters will lift last on Sunday. A tentative schedule will be posted by the USA Masters competition secretary approximately 1 week after the late-entry deadline.
WEIGHT CATEGORIES AND DIVISIONS:
Masters age divisions will apply 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80-84, 85-89, 90+
WEIGHT CATEGORY CHANGE:
Please note that according to USAW Masters rules, an athlete may increase or decrease his/her body weight category at the Verification of Entries meeting (before the Technical Meeting). After the technical meeting an athlete may increase, but may not decrease his/her body weight category. The athlete must notify the Competition Secretary and report to the weigh-in of the original weight category to confirm the change to a heavier category. DRUG TESTING AND DOPING CONTROL:
Pursuant to the rules of USA Masters Weightlifting, championships are a drug-tested event. The number of tests administered will depend on the number of entries received for the event. Of each entry received, $25 is allocated to the contracted costs with drug testing.
AWARDS:
Medals will be presented to first, second, and third place for total.
